Aluminium Is considered a modern metal as it was only able to be isolated and refined In the late 1880's and as the refining of the ore to pure Aluminium can only be achieved using large quantities of electricity the production at the time was so costly that it was then the most valuable metal.

Aluminium is the most abundant metal earth and is found in the form of Bauxite that is essentially made up of Aluminium oxide with small amounts of water, silica (sand), and the oxides of iron and titanium. The iron oxide gives bauxite its red colour.
